Now let a little self-introduction begin.
As of now, there is no greater pleasure for me than to study languages. This was not always the case, however, and back in my youth, my main aspiration was to become an ornithologist. Then there came a burnout, so painful I was never able to restore my fascination with natural sciences.
Linguistics filled the void in my soul. In high school, I realized that I loved languages and, by and large, nothing else, and I found an outlet for my enthusiasm in olympiads.
With no sugar coating, the olympiad world is quite scary. It is highly competitive and sometimes unfair, so it can be really damaging to your mental health. At the same time, I think I owe so much to this world, including my place at the university I longed to study at and many wonderful friends I made there, that I cannot say I am not happy for being a part of it.
So, it elates me to still be a part of this olympiad niche, though now in the role of a task compiler—which feels wonderful but surreal. I hope I will be able to help people who are rhapsodic about language learning as much as I am to advance their English.
